This website aims to give full details of all providers of community transport in Berkshire. Community transport schemes are usually run by volunteer or charity groups, for the benefit of people who might find it difficult to use ordinary public transport. The services use cars or minibuses, which may be specially modified to hold passengers who use wheelchairs, for example. While some providers may need a few days' notice for a particular journey, some organisations offer a "dial-a-ride" service. This means that trips can be booked by telephone to take place on the same day.
This site is hosted by ReadiBus, who provide dial-a-ride and other mobility services in Berkshire. Further details about ReadiBus are also available here.
The site has been developed to complement the information available about ordinary public transport services which is available through the Local Integrated Transport Enquiry Service (LITES).
The PTI organisation provides a Web directory of many transport providers throughout the United Kingdom, which is available at http://www.pti.org.uk.
This site conforms to the W3C specification for "Triple-A" accessibility as defined in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. Full details of the specification can be found at http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/WAI-WEBCONTENT-19990505.
